Elvis Presley

Also known as Sir Swivel Hips, Hillbilly Sinatra, Wiggle Hips, Whirling Dervish of Sex, and most famously, The King. Elvis Presley was born on January 8th, 1935. He lived for 42 years. In that short time, he managed to change the world. At first, he was hated by the media and damned by all those conservative creeps. But what nobody knew was coming, is the fact that he would sway his hips into the lives of screaming fangirls everywhere. Pun completely intended. It was that man’s voice alone that made girls’ panties twist in ferocity.

He definitely made my panties get in a bunch! There’s something about his half-smirked smile, low-booming voice, and baby blue eyes that makes my heart melt. Every year around the holiday seasons, it’s a tradition to listen to Christmas music while putting up a tree. This year, one of those CDs happened to be an Elvis Presley Christmas collection. As soon as I clicked the play button, his crooning began melting into my veins like the way warm fudge melts in your mouth.

I’ve always been infatuated with the legendary King of Rock and Roll, but never before has my passion for the actor, musician, and all-around stud ever been so intense! I swear I’m not a middle aged woman trying to relive her adolesence idolizing of the man, but I’m a geuine fan of today. I am proof that Elvis can still catch a girl’s breath thirty years after his death.

Pimple Reduction!

Posted in Lizz's Blog on October 8, 2009 by Outta' the 'Burg

Many teenagers, myself included, find some days to be horribly embarrassing due to a frustrating new zit. Of course, if you’re rich, or desparate, you may try the $60.00 Proactive stuff that might work, but if you’re like me and without sufficient funds to resolve a non-life-threatening problem, then you might want to read this:

There is a simple, cheap, and surprisingly obvious solution. All you need is a bit of Neosporin! If you read the directions, it clearly states that it is used to help clear and prevent infections in scars, cuts, and burns. What many people do not realize is that a pimple is just an infected area of skin that eventually turns into a scar.

I recently had an epiphany regarding what a pimple really is and the use of neosporin and decided I would do an experiment. For about a week I applied a small amount of original Neosporin to a side of my acne-affected face and left the other untreated. When the week concluded, I realized what had happened. The right side of my face seemed extremely cleaner and had almost no visible redness.

I have come to find out that I no longer need to purchase all of these expensive face-cleansers, nor do I have to wash my face like twelve times a day to keep it clean! All I do now is wash my face regularly in the shower in the morning, and at night apply a very small amount of Neosporin to a pimple. In the morning, the size and obviousness of it decreases dramatically! I am so excited to have finally found something that works, and I am sure you will too!

Review: Rockband, The Beatles

Posted in Lizz's Blog with tags , , , , , , , on September 21, 2009 by Outta' the 'Burg

Taking into consideration how undeniably amazing the Beatles are, this game had a seriously high bar to reach from the getgo. Also taking into consideration how Harmonix (the creators of Rockband) was expected by myself as a gamer to reach said bar, I think they did a fairly decent job.

I only say fairly decent becuase there were several things that they really should have done.  For one, I felt that they left out some really crucial songs. Blackbird was NOT included, neither were Across the Universe, Let It Be, or Eleanor Rigby! These are just a few songs that were not on the game. I’m not sure if you can purchase these songs online or whatever, but I still believe they should have been on it originally.

Other than the absence of those songs, the game really exceeded my expectations. As far as graphics, they were pretty spot on. They could have been a little sharper, but overrall they were acceptable. Another thing I thought was an awesome feature were the backgrounds. For instance, during the song I Am the Walrus, there’s a very entertaining music video-like thing going on. It’s really cool looking!

All in all, I’d tell anyone to buy it. It’s definitely worth the $59.99!

Review: “Vivarium” by Twin Atlantic

Posted in Meghan's Blog on September 19, 2009 by Outta' the 'Burg

Vivarium by Twin Atlantic has been long anticipate by the fans of this Scottish Alt Rock band. I happily shelled out the 5.99 on Itunes to buy this album without even bothering to listen to the snippets. I can’t say it wasn’t worth the money but I am less than enthused with the finished product. Most of the songs are very good but I am not left with a satisfied feel after I listen to this album threw a few times. I enjoyed most of the songsthough some highlights were “Caribbean War Syndrome”, “Where is Light,What is Laughter?” the excellent pre released single “Lightspeed” which don’t fail to please.

There was only song I was bothered by was “You’re Turing into John Wayne” which sounded increasingly interesting by the title but when I listened to it I felt that the song was a half-assed attempt to be political. Don’t get me wrong I have no problem with the message of the song. Speak it Twin Atlantic but I felt like this was a song that when they were deciding what should be on the album should have gotten cut for something better. The problem are the lyrics. It sounds like it was written by that moody guy who sits in the back of your class in high school and complains about “the man”. I can’t sit through the entire song.

One song I was exceedingly in love was “I Cave In” I have the previously released acoustic version and I really enjoy this albums version just as much if not more. I recommend you purchase both verisons.

Overall the album is well worth picking up and Twin Atlantic will continue to be a band I follow the development of. I give it four out of five stars and the ‘Burg stamp of approval.

Hi guys I know its been a while but I’ve been busy and then there was that week I faked my death but I can’t comment on pending litigation, just kidding, any way here is the Awesome Video of the Week via The Whitest Kids U’ Know

This is what I like to think happens in the meeting when people decided it was good idea to make these commercials that are REAL that are just plain odd and awkward:

I know I’ve shown this one before but I love this commerical more than any other;

This commercial seriously makes me wonder what they were thinking. I mean honestly do you think this would appeal to male sports fans?

London Particulars are Particularly Fun

Posted in Meghan's Blog with tags , , , , , , , , on August 16, 2009 by Outta' the 'Burg

Recently I was introduced to the online shop London Particulars. A shop for Steampunk fashion, art, and jewerly. Fun victorian influenced bit and bobs that I think are really wonderful. http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5927493 is the website address. There are pieces of jewerly made from antique watches and some prints that I really liked;
il_fullxfull.79003907.jpg
It’s called the Professor and the House of Lords and there are a set of prints of this professor and his cat flying across the sky around different locations in london. I love it! I can just imagine the professor, fun loving and maybe a bit misguided or touched in the head, and his faithful feline friend, who took off before she was supposed to, using good old Victorian mad science to fulfill their mad flying dreams.
You can buy the print in two sizes and I think the price is very acceptable on both the different prints and the hand made unique pieces of jewerly. I especially enjoy the descriptions for their products.

To be honest I am completely in love with this website I rather wish this was a store in my town and not an establishment I can only visit on line. Then theres the host website ETSY: Your place to buy or sell all things handmade. A website for people who make and sell handmade items which are of every sort.

If you are looking for a unique bit or bob or maybe you make handmade items yourself take a swing by ETSY.com because its a real gem.
